今日は、コーンケンから今回の最大の目的地であるブリーラムに向かう。
Today, I’m heading from Khon Kaen to Buriram, the main destination of this trip.
ネットでは情報が少なく、スムーズに行けるか不安だったけれど、
一昨日バスターミナルまで行って下調べをしておいたので安心だ。
There wasn’t much information online, so I was a bit worried about the journey,
but I visited the bus terminal two days ago to check things out,
so I feel more at ease.
バスはおおよそ1時間おきに出ている。
Buses depart roughly every hour.
Googleマップで調べると距離は195km。
According to Google Maps, the distance is 195 kilometers.
車なら約3時間だが、バスの時刻表を見ると4時間ほどかかるようだ。
It would take about three hours by car,
but the bus schedule suggests it’ll take around four hours.
途中で何箇所か停車するので、そのくらいかかるのかもしれない。
That’s probably because the bus makes several stops along the way.
朝、宿の近くの通りで開かれているマーケットで朝食を購入。
In the morning, I bought breakfast at a street market near my guesthouse.
オムレツご飯（カーオカイジャオ）20バーツ（約100円）。
I got an omelet over rice (khao khai jiao) for 20 baht (about 100 yen).
これが朝ごはんにはちょうどいい。
It’s just right for breakfast.
そして、スイートチリソース。これが抜群に合う。
And the sweet chili sauce—it pairs perfectly.
日本ではケチャップを使うけど、絶対にこっちのほうが美味しい！
In Japan, we usually use ketchup, but this is definitely tastier!
日本に帰るときにソースを買って帰ろう。
I’ll definitely buy some to take home when I return to Japan.
日本でも売っているけど、タイの倍くらいの値段がする。
You can find it in Japan too, but it costs about twice as much as it does here.
宿の前には、こんな車が停まっていた。
There was a car like this parked in front of the guesthouse.
ここでも『イニシャルD』推しの人がいるんだね。
Looks like there are fans of “Initial D” even here.
バスターミナルまではソンテウで向かう。料金は20バーツ（約100円）。
I took a songthaew to the bus terminal. The fare was 20 baht (about 100 yen).
やっぱりソンテウだとこのくらいの値段が妥当だよね。
That’s about the right price for a songthaew ride.
先日乗ったソンテウは、やっぱりぼったくりだったな。
Thinking back, the one I took the other day was definitely a rip-off.
バスは定刻通り10時45分に出発。
The bus departed right on schedule at 10:45 a.m.

タイ語でしか書かれていないけれど、一番左がコーンケン、右から2番目がブリーラム。
It’s written only in Thai,
but the far-left column is Khon Kaen, and the second column from the right is Buriram.
宿のオーナーに読んでもらった。
The guesthouse owner helped me read it.
私が乗ったのは10時45分発で、15時20分にブリーラム到着予定の便。207B（約1035円）
I took the 10:45 a.m. bus, which was scheduled to arrive in Buriram at 3:20 p.m.
バスの中ではウォークマンで音楽を聴きながら、車窓を眺めて過ごした。
On the bus, I passed the time listening to music on my Walkman and watching the scenery go by.
ブリーラムのバスターミナルに到着。
I arrived at the Buriram bus terminal.
なんと、定刻の10分前に着いた。
Surprisingly, we arrived 10 minutes ahead of schedule.
時刻表では5か所に停車するはずだったけれど、実際には2か所しか停まらなかった。
According to the timetable, the bus was supposed to stop at five places,
but it only stopped at two.
おそらく、荷物の配送が少なかったのと、途中で乗り降りする人が少なかったからだろう。
I think it was because there weren’t many deliveries or passengers getting on and off along the way.
バスターミナルから宿までは徒歩で移動。約3km。
From the bus terminal, I walked to the guesthouse—about 3 kilometers.
宿に着く前に、どうしてもビールが飲みたくなった。
Before reaching the guesthouse, I had a sudden craving for a beer.
地図を見ると、宿の近くにはあまりお店がなさそうだった。
Looking at the map, there didn’t seem to be many shops near the guesthouse.
近くまで来たところでセブンイレブンを見つけたけれど、ビールが買えない時間帯だった。
When I got close, I found a 7-Eleven, but it was during the hours when alcohol sales are prohibited.
そこで、近くの商店でとりあえず1本だけビールを買って、店先で飲んだ。
So I bought a bottle of beer at a nearby local shop and drank it right outside.
その後、さらに5分ほど歩いて宿に到着。
After that, I walked another five minutes and finally arrived at the guesthouse.
宿に着いたら鍵がかかっていて誰もいなかったが、
ドアのブザーを押すとすぐにスタッフが来てくれた。
When I arrived at the guesthouse, the door was locked and no one was around,
but as soon as I rang the buzzer, someone came right away.
問題なくチェックイン完了。
Check-in went smoothly without any issues.
今日の宿泊客は私一人のようだ。
It seems I’m the only guest staying here tonight.
とても綺麗で、トイレもシャワーも清潔。
The place is incredibly clean—the toilet and shower are spotless.
トイレットペーパーもちゃんとあるし、タオルも清潔で、個室なのが嬉しい。
There’s toilet paper, clean towels, and I have a private room.
That’s a big plus.
最高！
Absolutely perfect!
さすが、一泊2000円するだけのことはある。
No wonder it costs 2,000 yen per night—it’s worth every yen.
バスターミナルから歩いてくる途中、仲介サイトに載っていないような宿を見かけた。
On the way from the bus terminal,
I saw a place that didn’t seem to be listed on any booking sites.
モーテルのような雰囲気で、「170B（約850円）」と書かれていた。
It looked like a motel, and the sign said “170B” (about 850 yen).
もしかして…時間貸しの宿？
Could it be... a short-stay hotel?
真偽は不明。
I’m not sure, though.
荷物を置いて、バイクレンタル屋を探しに出かける。
After dropping off my luggage, I went out to look for a motorbike rental shop.
Googleマップで調べると、駅の近くに1軒あるようなので、駅まで行ってみることに。
According to Google Maps, there was one near the train station, so I headed there.
しかし、そこには店はなく、ただの駐輪場だった。
But when I got there, it was just a parking lot—no shop in sight.
せっかく駅まで来たので、バンコク行きの列車の時刻表を確認することにした。
Since I was already at the station, I decided to check the train schedule to Bangkok.
バンコク行きの列車は本数が多いなぁ。
There are quite a lot of trains heading to Bangkok.
ここブリーラムからは、次に最終目的地であるバンコクへ向かう予定だ。
From here in Buriram, my next and final destination will be Bangkok.
バスもあるけれど、列車のほうが安いみたい。
There are buses too, but it seems the train is cheaper.
所要時間も30分から1時間ほどしか変わらないので、列車で移動しようと思っている。
The travel time only differs by about 30 minutes to an hour, so I’m planning to take the train.
駅にポリスボックスがあったので、警官に聞いてみた。
There was a police box at the station, so I asked an officer for help.
「100メートルほど先にあるよ」と教えてくれたので、歩いて向かう。
He told me there was one about 100 meters ahead, so I walked in that direction.
すると、さっきの警官が声をかけてきて、「バイクに乗って、連れて行ってやる」と言ってくれた。
Then the same officer called out to me and said, “Hop on, I’ll take you there.”
でも、バイク屋には張り紙が貼られていて、どうやら潰れてしまっているようだった。
However, when we got there, there was a notice posted—it looked like the shop had closed down.
警官がその張り紙を見て電話してくれたけど、誰も出なかった。
The officer read the notice and even tried calling the number, but no one answered.
すると、「もう一軒あるから、そこに連れて行ってやる」と再びバイクに乗せてくれた。
Then he said, “There’s another one. I’ll take you there,” and gave me another ride.
なんて親切な警官なんだ。
What a kind officer.
でも、私はノーヘル…警察的にそれでいいの？
But I wasn’t wearing a helmet… is that okay from a police perspective?
もう一軒も、どうやら潰れているようだった。
The second shop also seemed to be out of business.
すると警官がどこかに電話してくれて、「今日は閉店しているけど、連絡すれば宿までバイクを届けてくれる」とのこと。
Then the officer made a call and told me,
“The shop’s closed today, but if you contact them, they’ll deliver a bike to your guesthouse.”
わざわざ店まで行かなくていいらしい。
Apparently, I wouldn’t even need to go to the shop.
バイク屋の場所を聞いたら、もっと遠いところにあるとのこと。
When I asked where the shop was, he said it was even farther away.
バイクの宅配もやっているサービスらしい。
It seems they offer a delivery service for motorbikes.
恐るべし、タイランド。
Thailand never ceases to amaze me.
警官に「じゃあ明日電話してレンタルするよ」と伝え、電話番号を教えてもらう。
I told the officer, “I’ll call them tomorrow to rent one,” and he gave me their number.
「歩いて帰るよ」と言うと、「今、祭りをやってるから、そこまで送ってやる」と。
When I said I’d walk back, he replied, “There’s a festival going on—I’ll take you there.”
なんて優しいんだ。
Such kindness!
祭りの会場で降ろしてもらった。
He dropped me off at the festival grounds.
警官のわりに、運転はけっこう荒かったけど…大丈夫かな？
His driving was surprisingly rough for a police officer… but I guess it’s fine?
祭りの会場でビールを飲みながら夕食をとって、ひと息つく。
I had a beer and dinner at the festival and finally relaxed.
こういう場所だとビールは高いのが普通だけど、酒屋っぽい店で買ったら安かった。
Beer is usually expensive at places like this, but I found a liquor shop nearby and got it for cheap.
ありがたいね。
Much appreciated.
お祭りをひと通り見物してから、歩いて宿に戻る。
After enjoying the festival, I walked back to the guesthouse.
宿に戻ると、スタッフの姿は見当たらなかった。
When I got back to the guesthouse, there were no staff members around.
どうやら日中しかいないようだ。
It seems they’re only present during the daytime.
宿はけっこう大きいのに、宿泊者は私ひとりなので、ちょっと心細い……。
Even though the guesthouse is fairly large,
I’m the only guest here, which feels a bit eerie…
シャワーを浴びて、今日の一日を締めくくる。
I took a shower and called it a day.
