昨日は移動だけで疲れてしまったので、ビールを飲んで直ぐに寝た。
朝、シャワーを浴びてスッキリ。トイレもシャワーも数が多く、洗面台も十分。
ただし、メンテナンスがあまり行き届いていない。
トイレのペーパーが無い場所もあれば、鍵がかからないところもある。
Yesterday I was exhausted from traveling, so I drank some beer and went straight to bed.
In the morning, I took a shower and felt refreshed.
There were plenty of toilets, showers, and sinks, but maintenance wasn’t great.
Some toilets had no paper, and some locks didn’t work.
宿のオーナーにターミナル3への行き方を聞いた。
黄色のソンテウで「No.3」と書いてあるものに乗ればいいと教えてくれた。
宿からすぐの大通りに出て探したが、ちょうど目の前で行ってしまった。
待つだけでは退屈なので、ヒッチハイクを試みたが誰も止まってくれない。
10分ほどで黄色いNo.3のソンテウが来たので乗り込んだ。
I asked the guesthouse owner how to get to Terminal 3.
He told me to take a yellow songthaew marked “No.3.”
I went out to the main road near the guesthouse, but one passed right in front of me.
Waiting felt boring, so I tried hitchhiking, but no one stopped.
After about 10 minutes, another yellow No.3 songthaew came, so I got on.
料金がわからなかったので、乗客に聞いてみた。
「そこまで行ったことないけど、多分20Bくらいだと思う」との返事。バスターミナル3に到着。
値段がわからないまま乗ったが、降りるときに150Bを請求されて口論になった。
昨夜ここからタクシーに乗っても100Bしなかったのに、150Bは明らかにおかしい。
50Bなら払うと言ったが、運転手は首を縦に振らない。警察へ行こうと言っても車から降りない。
面倒なので日本語で悪態をつき、とりあえず支払った。
Since I didn’t know the fare, I asked another passenger.
He said, “I haven’t gone that far, but maybe around 20 baht.”
When I arrived at Terminal 3, the driver demanded 150 baht, which led to an argument.
Last night a taxi from here cost only 100 baht, so 150 was clearly wrong.
I said I’d pay 50, but the driver refused.
I told him, “Let’s go to the police,” but he wouldn’t get out of the vehicle.
Frustrated, I cursed in Japanese and paid anyway.
その後、次に行こうとしているブリーラムへのバス情報を入手。
割と本数があるようだ。
さっき払った金額に納得できず、インフォメーションで聞いてみたら、
あっちのオフィスへ行けとか、別の場所で聞けとか少したらい回しにされたが、
3箇所目でようやく話を聞いてくれて返金してくれた。
過剰請求されたのかと聞かれたので、常習者がいるのだろうと思った。
After that, I got bus information for Buriram, my next destination.
It seemed there were several departures.
Still upset about the fare, I asked at the information desk.
They sent me from one office to another, but at the third place someone finally listened and refunded me.
They asked if I had been overcharged, so I figured there must be repeat offenders.
しかし、これも少し勘違い。200B払ったが、ポケットには10Bしかなかったので190B払ったと思い込み、
さらに怒りが込み上げた。
後から冷静に考えると、200B払って20B札×2と10Bコインを受け取っていたようで、
実際には10Bのお釣りをもらっていたのに私が勘違いしていた。
返金は200Bもらってしまい、申し訳ない気持ち。
But I also misunderstood.
I thought I had paid 190 baht because I only had 10 baht left in my pocket,
and I got even angrier.
Later, thinking calmly, I realized I had paid 200 baht and received two 20-baht notes plus a 10-baht coin as change.
I had actually gotten the correct 10 baht change, but I misinterpreted it.
I ended up receiving a 200 baht refund, which made me feel guilty.
それでも過剰請求した運転手は制裁を受けるはずだからざまあみろ。
車のナンバーと顔写真を撮っておけば良かったと後悔。少し失敗。
さらに、この街に来てからネットも繋がらず苦労している。
Still, the driver who overcharged me will probably face consequences, so serves him right.
I regretted not taking the car’s license plate and his photo.
A bit of a mistake.
On top of that, since arriving in this city, I haven’t been able to connect to the internet,
which has been troublesome.
帰りはソンテウかシティーバスで帰ることに。どちらが安いかはわからない。
今回はシティーバスを使って宿まで戻ることにした。時刻表を見ると本数が少ない。
ソンテウはたくさん走っているので、シティーバスは観光客向けなのかもしれない。
急いでいないのでのんびり待つことに。
For the return, I considered either a songthaew or a city bus.
I wasn’t sure which was cheaper.
This time I chose the city bus to get back to the guesthouse.
The timetable showed few departures.
Since songthaews run frequently, maybe the city bus is aimed at tourists.
I wasn’t in a hurry, so I waited patiently.
やっとシティーバスが来たので乗り込む。宿近くの大きな公園まで20B。
車内にはお金を入れる機械があったが、うまく入らず、
運転手が私から受け取って機械に入れてくれた。
Finally, the city bus arrived and I boarded.
It cost 20 baht to reach the large park near the guesthouse.
Inside, there was a machine to insert money, but I couldn’t manage it,
so the driver took my money and put it in himself.
公園は夜になると露店がたくさん出るらしい。まだ夕方前だったが、出店の準備中。
近くに寺があったので見物。本堂らしき場所に入ると、いきなり恐竜。
どうやらこの町では恐竜の化石が発見されたらしい。
その恐竜は電動で動き、鳴き声も出る。人が少なかったので、突然の音に驚かされた。
The park apparently fills with street stalls at night.
Even though it wasn’t evening yet, preparations were underway.
Nearby was a temple, so I went to look.
Inside what seemed to be the main hall, there was suddenly a dinosaur.
Apparently, dinosaur fossils were discovered in this town.
The dinosaur moved electrically and even made sounds.
Since few people were around, the sudden noise startled me.
そこからゆっくり歩いて宿へ戻る途中、標識を発見。
この時間しか店を出してはいけないというものらしい。
さらに歩道橋にエレベーターが付いていた。動くかは不明だが、こんなのは初めて見た。
近くに大きな病院があるからかもしれない。
From there, I walked slowly back to the guesthouse.
On the way, I found a sign that seemed to indicate shops could only open during certain hours.
I also saw a pedestrian bridge with an elevator.
I wasn’t sure if it worked, but it was the first time I had seen such a thing.
Maybe it was because there was a large hospital nearby.
楽天モバイルが使えなくなったので、宿のWi-Fiに繋いでサポートへ連絡。
ローミングする回線業者を変更してみてくれとか、端末の電源をオン・オフしてくれとか、
機内モードのオン・オフをしてくれとか色々と言われたが、全部だめ。
最終的には補償対象外の端末を使っているから、どうにもならないと言われた。
他の町に移動したらまた試してくれと。
Since Rakuten Mobile stopped working, I connected to the guesthouse Wi-Fi and contacted support.
They told me to try changing the roaming carrier, turning the device on and off,
and toggling airplane mode, but none of it worked. In the end,
they said my device wasn’t covered under warranty, so nothing could be done.
They advised me to try again after moving to another town.
宿のオーナーが「今週はお祭りをやっているから行ってみたら？」と提案してくれたので、
日が暮れる時間になって歩いて行ってみた。
さっき公園を歩いた時に準備していた店がたくさん開店している。
やっぱりお祭りって楽しい。オーナーによると、年に一度のシルク祭りらしい。
シルクが有名なのかな？
The guesthouse owner suggested, “There’s a festival this week, why don’t you go?”
So at sunset I walked over.
The stalls I had seen preparing earlier in the park were now open.
Festivals are always fun. According to the owner, it was the annual Silk Festival.
Perhaps silk is famous here.
お祭りを見物してから宿に戻る。
オーナーに延泊したいと申し出たら、「直接払うと高いからネットで予約しなさい」と言われた。
（仲介業者に手数料を取られるはずなのに？）
さらに「洗濯したいなら外の方が安いから、そっちでやったほうがいい」とも言われた。
ここの宿のオーナーは少し変わっている。儲ける気が無いのかな？
After enjoying the festival, I returned to the guesthouse.
I asked the owner if I could extend my stay, but he said,
“If you pay directly it’s more expensive, so book online.”
(Even though booking sites usually charge commission?) He also told me,
“If you want to do laundry, it’s cheaper outside, so you should go there.”
This guesthouse owner seemed a little unusual.
Maybe he isn’t interested in making money.
前に泊まった宿では「延泊するなら直接言ってください。
ブッキングドットコムやアゴダは手数料が高いから嫌いだ」と言われたけど…。
何なんだろう？不思議。
At the previous guesthouse, they told me,
“If you want to extend your stay, tell us directly.
We don’t like Booking.com or Agoda because their fees are too high.”
I wonder why the attitude here is so different. Strange.
