昨日は移動で疲れて、飯を食ってビールを飲んだら、そのまま寝てしまった。
I was so tired from traveling yesterday that I ate dinner, had a beer, and fell asleep right away.

昨日の夜からずっと降り続いている。

朝、シャワーを浴びて朝食を買って食べた。
In the morning, I took a shower, bought some breakfast, and ate.
キャッシングしようと思ってATMを使ったら、1回目に暗証番号を間違えてしまった。
I tried to withdraw cash from an ATM, but I entered the wrong PIN on the first try.
再度試したらロックがかかったようで、使えなくなった。
When I tried again, it seemed to lock me out.
宿に戻って食事をしながらスマホを見たら、「不正利用が疑われるためロックしました」とメールが届いていた。
Back at the guesthouse, while eating, I checked my phone and saw an email saying, “Your account has been locked due to suspected unauthorized use.”
たった1回間違えただけで？
Just one wrong attempt?
まあ、セキュリティがしっかりしてるってことかな。
Well, I guess that means their security is tight.
とりあえずWebから解除申請をして、無事にロック解除。
I submitted an unlock request online, and thankfully it worked.
その後は普通に使えるようになった。
After that, the ATM worked fine again.

食事も済んで、雨も小降りになってきたので、散歩がてらランドリーサービスへ洗濯物を持っていく。
After eating and seeing the rain ease up, I decided to take a walk and bring my laundry to a service.
今の宿のすぐ隣にコインランドリーがある。
There’s a coin laundry right next to my current guesthouse.
洗濯は40バーツ（約200円）、乾燥機は20バーツ（約100円）。
Washing costs 40 baht (about 200 yen), and drying is 20 baht (about 100 yen).
容量は19kgまでの料金で、洗剤代は別。
That price covers up to 19kg, but detergent is extra.
コインランドリーにしようかと思ったけど、そんなに量がないし…。
I considered using the coin laundry, but I didn’t have that much laundry.
以前、別の町で使ったとき、乾燥機が全然乾かなくて、2回まわして結局高くついた。
Last time I used one in another town, the dryer didn’t work well—I had to run it twice, and it ended up costing more.
歩いて15分ほどの場所にランドリーサービスがあったので、そちらにお願いすることに。
So I walked about 15 minutes to a laundry service and dropped off my clothes there.
1kgあたり50バーツ。良心的な価格。
It was 50 baht per kilogram—a fair price.
仕上がりは当日中。
They promised same-day service.
ただ少し気になるのは、天日干しっぽいこと。
What worried me a bit was that they seemed to dry clothes in the sun.
天気が良ければいいけど、今のチェンマイは曇りがちで、時々雨も降る。
That’s fine if the weather’s good, but Chiang Mai has been cloudy with occasional rain.
本当に一日で乾くのかな？
Will it really dry in one day?
一応、数時間で仕上げる特急コースもあったので、乾燥機はあるはず。
They did offer an express option, so they must have a dryer.

ランドリーの帰り道、崩れかけたパゴダを見つけた。
On the way back, I came across a crumbling pagoda.
誰も知らないような場所にも、こんな遺跡があるんだね。
Even in places no one seems to notice, there are ruins like this.
そのまま旧市街をぐるっと一周散歩。
I continued walking and made a full loop around the old town.
昼間はなんとか天気が持ちそう。
The weather seemed to be holding up during the day.
お寺を見つけたので、ちょっと覗いてみた。
I found a temple and decided to take a look.
十二支の像が並んでいた。
There were statues of the twelve zodiac animals.
これは日本にもある。
We have these in Japan too.
順番に見ていくと……申・酉・戌……え？象？
As I looked through them—Monkey, Rooster, Dog… wait, Elephant?
日本では亥（いのしし）なんだけどな。
In Japan, it’s supposed to be the Boar.

裏路地にも入ってみた。
I wandered into a back alley.
そこには、オブジェのようになった古い車が置かれていた。
There was an old car turned into an art piece.
お寺では、猫に気に入られたらしく、足にすり寄ってきて離れなかった。
At the temple, a cat seemed to take a liking to me—it rubbed against my legs and wouldn’t leave.
かわいかったなあ。
It was adorable.
おみくじもあって、ちょっとゲーム感覚の機械だった。
There was even a fortune-telling machine that felt a bit like a game.

さらに散策していると、洋服屋を発見。
As I kept exploring, I found a clothing shop.
変な日本語のTシャツがありそうだと思って探してみたら、1種類だけ発見！
I figured they might have some weird Japanese T-shirts, and sure enough, I found one!
値札には120バーツとあったけど、「100バーツにしてくれたら買うよ」と言ったら、OKしてくれた。
The tag said 120 baht, but I asked, “Can you make it 100 baht?” and they agreed.
色のバリエーションはたくさんあったけど、どれも微妙な色合い。
There were lots of color options, but none of them really stood out.
無難なカーキ色を選んだ。
I went with a safe choice—khaki.
外国人にはこの変な日本語がわからないんだろうな。
Foreigners probably don’t realize how weird the Japanese on these shirts is.
たとえば、スポーツブランドのNikeが「Nake」って書かれてるような感じ。
It’s like seeing a shirt that says “Nake” instead of “Nike.”

宿に戻ったら、ドアが開かない。
When I got back to the guesthouse, I couldn’t open the door.
カードキーをタッチして開けるタイプで、そのカードはセキュリティボックスに入っている。
The door uses a card key, which is stored in a security box.
ダイヤル式の番号を合わせてボックスを開けたら、昨日まで入っていたカードがない。
I entered the code and opened the box—but the card that had been there yesterday was gone.
ホステルに入れない。WhatsAppで連絡したが、なかなか返事が来ない。
I couldn’t get in. I messaged them on WhatsApp, but no reply for a while.
ちょうどお腹も空いてたし、歩き疲れていたので、めちゃくちゃイライラしてきた。
I was hungry and tired from walking, so I started getting really irritated.
最後には「いいから早く鍵を開けてくれ！」と送ったら、中からオーナーらしき人が出てきた。
Eventually, I messaged, “Just open the door already!” and someone—maybe the owner—came out.
おいおい…今までのやり取りは何だったんだよ。
Come on… what was the point of all those messages?
早くドア開けてくれよ！
You could’ve just opened the door from the start!
鍵についてるキーホルダーみたいなものがICタグになっていて、それで開けるらしい。
Turns out, the keychain attached to the key was actually an IC tag used to unlock the door.
それ、早く言ってくれよ。
They could’ve told me that sooner.
知らずに、昨日もキーボックスに入っていたカードでドアを開けてた。
I had no idea, and yesterday I was unlocking the door using the card from the key box.

一旦宿で休憩しながら、天気が悪くても観光できる場所を探す。
I took a break at the guesthouse and looked for places I could visit even in bad weather.
スタッフに「もう一泊できないか」と聞いたが、ダメだった。
I asked the staff if I could stay one more night, but they said no.
今使っている個室は、同じ料金では泊められないとのこと。
They said they couldn’t let me stay in the same private room at the current rate.
「ドミトリーでもいいんだけど」と伝えたが、それも満室らしい。
I told them I’d be fine with a dorm bed, but apparently those were fully booked too.
このホステル、客が少ないように見えるのに…。
It didn’t seem like there were many guests, though…

天気が悪いから博物館でも行こうかと思ったけど、良さそうな場所が見つからない。
Since the weather was bad, I thought about going to a museum, but couldn’t find a good one.
とりあえず、明日の宿を予約。
So I went ahead and booked a place for tomorrow.
今の宿より40バーツ（約200円）ほど高いけど、今よりはマシかな。
It’s about 40 baht (around 200 yen) more than this one, but hopefully it’ll be better.

夕方になってきたので、昼に買っておいたビールを飲みながらタバコを吸う。
As evening came, I cracked open the beer I’d bought earlier and had a smoke.
そろそろ夕飯に出かける。
Then I headed out for dinner.
有名なお店で、めちゃくちゃ待たされた。
I went to a popular restaurant—and had to wait forever.
システムがわかりにくい。
The system was confusing.
まずは受付で、番号が書かれた紙を発行してもらう。
First, you get a slip with a number at the reception.
その番号が店の前にあるモニターに表示されたら、席に座って待つ。
When your number shows up on the monitor outside, you can take a seat and wait.
番号が出るまでかなり時間がかかったので、空いている席に座って待っていたら、
It took a long time for my number to come up, so I sat in an empty seat to wait.
「座るな！」と店員に注意された。厳しいな…。
But a staff member scolded me—“Don’t sit there!” Pretty strict…
30分待って、やっと食事にありつけた。
After a 30-minute wait, I finally got my meal.
食べてみたけど…すごく美味しいという感じではなかった。
I tried it, but honestly, it wasn’t anything amazing.
野菜たっぷりの春雨入りスープみたいな感じ。
It was like a clear soup with lots of vegetables and glass noodles.
日本でいうと、タンメンに近いかな。
Kind of like “tanmen” in Japan.
うーん、なんでこんなに人気なのかは不明。
Hmm… I’m not sure why it’s so popular.

Back at the guesthouse, I had one more beer before bed.
